| wah, there are still many people reading my xanga, as my Feedback Log indicates. i hope xanga realises that it played a major part in its own demise by introducing stupid functions like Feedback Log, sign in lock, friends lock etc.
when you go shopping in London or England, it's apparent that the high rollers are mostly Mainland Chinese or Middle East ppl. or should i say, they are the high rollers who seek brand names with a desperate hunger. the Mainlanders stand out here, as they do in HK, with their delicate manners and sound volume, but the Middle Eastern ppl stand out even more in England. first, most of the women are wrapped up from head to toe, with only a slit to reveal their eyes. this does not deter or hinder them from jostling vigorously with our dear compatriots for a Dior or Gucci. second, they travel in packs - shopping is a 扶老攜幼 activity, a family outing. needless to say, the children run amok in the shops and boutiques while the salesladies feign delight at their adorable energy. third, they cart around shopping trolleys (like the ones your mum/ maid uses to the wet market) to transport their purchases. this is not an environmentally conscious gesture to save carrier bags. fourth, at airport customs, they produce literally inches of shopping receipts for VAT exemption, heaps of LV luggage sitting on airport trolleys beside them.
if ppl think 港女 are brand name crazy, look further...

| i haven't logged into my xanga for just over 2 weeks, but it took me about 5 minutes to go through all the subscriptions... i remember when i went to Italy for 10 days in the Easter of 2005, it would have taken me at least 5 hours to skim through all the subscriptions? we have all grown up... yet it's better to have grown up in xanga rather than facebook/ twitter... at least we, for the most part, wrote and read complete sentences and paragraphs.
looking at people's wedding pictures, it is very bizarre to see how some people can have NO friends at a certain stage in life. not talking about friends who are close enough to be sisters, or to be allocated a precious seat in a banquet, but friends or even acquaintances who care enough to show up at a wedding ceremony/ reception. imagine spending 3, 4, 6, 13 years in a school or workplace, and coming out with zero friends? too sad. i think i always knew that such people existed amongst my peers, but you don't realise the full extent of what a loner she was until you see the dismal wedding pictures. for some, it's obvious that she came out of her shell at some point, as she has a progressive number of friends. but there are others who only have friends from school. a possible explanation is that she became obsessed with the boyfriend(s) and never made other friends in uni. there are many other possible explanations. XD
2/7 through my holiday... i am definitely not bored yet (although i am writing a xanga entry). it's so nice to step away, into a fresh environment, to realise that there is so much more to life than the routine in HK... it's helped by that fact that London in September is the best i've ever known it. it's actually habitable! i feel sorry for the freshers coming to uni in London and are being deceived by the gorgeous September...
Egypt is next! i look forward to the culture shock. | | |
| Wigan 1-2 Man Utd
when a team like Man Utd have a poor performance, it's hard not to be suspicious of 打假波 but maybe they are just too good as Stevo@BBC says, "Never at their best, but they have done enough. They always seem to just do enough."
完美主義係浪費時間精力的態度 有能力有信心的話, hea 得就 hea 啦 (insert 柴九's 金句) hea贏, 吹佢唔脹 Man Utd, 好型!

| i think it is fair to say that the sports most watched by 港男 are NBA and football, and football is probably more popular among the two. (the 106th criterion of 港女 is utter lack of ability, interest and knowledge in sports). being a bunch of 港英餘孽 or offspring of 港英餘孽, 90% of 港男 support English teams. so for those who don't have NOW TV/ those who have a job to wake up to, the first thing they want to know in the morning is the result of the football match last night.
imagine waking up on the morning of 15 and 16 April, switching on the radio (CRHK) before going to work (8:xx am), and the sports news is about... some mainland chick called 彭帥 who made it through the 2nd round of a tennis tournament in Charleston, USA (took me so long to google that).
1. HK people don't care about mainland sporting achievement except during Olympics when we pretend to be patriotic 2. HK people don't care that much about tennis, except maybe huge matches or involving tennis stars like Federer or Nadal or the Williams apes 3. 2nd leg of quarter finals of Champions League 4. Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal advancing to the semis of Champions League... compared to 彭帥 making top 16 at this tournament
btw, here is the website of the Charleston tennis tournament. i think most HK ppl would probably be more interested in a news clip about 天水圍飛馬...
when it comes to sports, it's probably going to take a good few generations to stifle the 港英餘孽 nature of HK people and i don't think anyone reading this will live to see that day.... God Save The Queen!

| all that 陶傑 did wrong was: (1) not publish under the name Nury Vittachi; and (2) not draw dolls draw out of intestines.
